Mitchell & Morgan,
I worked with your Mom in the mid to late 70's at Peppina's. Your Mom was already part of the staff as a waitress when I was hired. You couldn't have asked for a better co-worker. Mariann was kind, funny, always laughing and such a hard worker who seldom complained. When you work an afternoon shift you lose track of your day friends while your night co-workers become your work family and friends who share important events in your life. Many a night we left work to go for a 2 am breakfast or go to someone's house and stay till 7 or 8 in the morning. Playing cards, listening to music and a few times we climbed a fence to go swimming in a locked, closed apartment pool. Such fun!!!! Just before I was married, your Mom and another co-worker named Mona asked me out for dinner to a very fancy restaurant (that assured them I was dressed up with heels, hair done and makeup on.) My fiance had signed a lease to an apartment that month and I had mentioned that I needed to go out and buy curtains. Your Mom said, "come on over to my apartment before we go to dinner. I have some extra curtains you can have." I said yes, and met them at your Moms place. Your Mom pulled out some curtains for me to look at, but they were the wrong color. She said she had others in her storage unit over in the clubhouse and lets go look. We get in the parking lot and your Mom starts running and pulling me. I am yelling, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!!!" I was afraid I was going to break a heel or fall down she was going so fast. Mariann just kept running & yelling, "come on, I'm cold." It was in the 70's. We get to the door and she pushs me in and all I hear is, "SURPRISE!!" My Mom and future Mother in law had planned a surprise bridal shower. Your Mom made the arrangment to rent her clubhouse plus with Mona, came up with the plan to get me there. Was I surprised. I started to cry and all your Mom did was laugh when I asked her, "Why in the world did we have to run all across the apartment parking lot?" Her answer was that she was afraid that if we walked I would recognize all the parked cars. As for the curtains, they were some of your Moms favorites, no way was she giving them up. We kept in touch for a number of years including when we both started our families. I brought my kids over for visits when you both were very young. Life gets busy and sometimes you lose touch with people who were important and loved in your life. Bea shared with my husband and I the news of your Moms death. We are both so sorry. Please know that your Mom was loved by our family. The memory of my bridal shower along wth countless others made with your Mom will always bring a smile to my face and warm my heart.
Lots of hugs, love and prayers to you both.
