Martha Louise Leadbetter was born in Norwalk, Ohio on November 16, 1941. She was the daughter of the late Gilbert Earl Leadbetter and the late Barbara (Bell) Leadbetter. She was a graduate of Norwalk High School. Martha married Paul Harvey Joslin and together they raised the couples six children.
Martha was a member of the Monroe Jaycees for many years. She was an avid bowler, and she loved to bake, play bingo, and read novels. Martha loved to cook for her family always putting forth a great effort, but her children joked that "spices were not really an option". Martha had a lot of love to give and she loved children and especially her grandchildren. Throughout her lifetime she and her husband Paul fostered 144 children. Martha was a fun loving and crazy mother.
For more than fifteen years Martha had also worked in Home Health Care.
Martha Louise Joslin, age 70, of Monroe, Michigan passed away at her son's Carleton home on Sunday, January 22, 2012. She had been under the care of Mercy Memorial Hospice. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by her husband: Paul and one brother: Allen Leadbetter.
Martha leaves to cherish her memory six children: Allen (Lynn) Joslin of Carleton, Bradley (Brandi) Joslin of Monroe, Jonathan Joslin of Monroe, Carolyn Joslin (William Gallagher) of Georgia, Steven (Traci) Joslin of Monroe, and Barbara Joslin-Walls of Monroe; one sister: Mary (Tom) Vance of Gatlinburg, Tennessee; sixteen grandchildren: Brianna, Savannah, Connor, Bradley, Jr., Mazi, Tatianna, Tre, Charlotte, Eowyn, Drew, Jeffrey, Devin, Mary-Alynda, Samantha, Nick, and Dylan; and two great grandchildren.
Friends may gather from 1:30pm until 7:00pm; Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of Her Life will take place at 7:00pm with Brenda Wilkison, CLP, of First Presbyterian Church of Erie officiating. Cremation has taken place through Southern Michigan Services in Livonia, Michigan. Private burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle.
