Obituary of Raymond Ellison
Please share a memory of Raymond to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Raymond Clyde Ellison was born December 22, 1938 in Monroe. He was the fourth of twelve children born to the union of Forrester and Gladys (Davis) Ellison. Raymond grew up on the east side of Monroe and attended school at Lincoln. He later would attend Monroe High School.
He enlisted in the United States Air Force in January of 1956. He would marry the love of his life Dorothy Mathis on September 7, 1957 in Monroe. He took an honorable discharge in May of 1959 and then returned home to Monroe to raise a family.
Raymond and Dorothy were blessed with four beautiful daughters: Felicia of Monroe, Elizabeth of Allen Park, Tammy of Monroe, and Renee Ellison and Dwayne LaCour of Ypsilanti. From these children, they would have three grandchildren: Latosha Hall, Marshall Ellison, and Quentin Harris and one great grandchild: Marissa Ellison.
Raymond took providing for his family very seriously. He worked for the Woodhaven Stamping Plant of the Ford Motor Company as a machine repairman. His career extended from 1972 until his retirement in 2006.
Raymond also enjoyed kicking back, and breaking open a Stroh's Beer. His outdoor hobbies included Stroh's the dog; gun and bow hunting, fishing, and boating. But he valued the time he spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren the most.
He also enjoyed the memories with his siblings: Charles and Emily Ellison and Betty Johnson both of Monroe, Curt and Pat Ellison of Tennessee, Mary Lee Platt and Juanita and Bill Tezak both of Monroe, Shirley "Eileen" and Keith Jepson of Idaho, Billy and Betsy Ellison of Elkmot, Alabama, Sharon and Leo Schmelz and Loretta and Keith Russeau both of Monroe.
Raymond Clyde Ellison, age 69, passed peacefully from this life Wednesday afternoon.
Raymond's passing was preceded by his beloved wife: Dorothy in October of 2007, his parents, two infant brothers: James and Robert Ellison; and a brother in law: Tom Platt.
