Helen Edith Fleszar was born July 17, 1914 in Detroit, Michigan. Helen was the daughter of the late John Fleszar and the late Amelia (Wolak) Fleszar.
Helen met the love of her life Wesley J. Dandron. They were married on June 9, 1942 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Carleton. Wesley served his country proudly during World War II. During the war, Helen supported the war effort by working in the Willow Run Bomber Plant. Following the war she became a homemaker, and took on the responsibility of raising a family. Helen had also served as the bookkeeper for Dandron Electric Motor Shop, which they ran out of their home for many years.
Helen attended St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing, and much of her work led to the creation of beautiful afghans. She often could be found completing word puzzles another favorite activity.
She shared many memories with her daughter: Jennifer Gasper of Monroe and her son: Douglas Dandron of Monroe.
She also was fond of her three grandchildren: Douglas Dandron Jr. of Tennessee, Tammy (James) Duchenne of Haughton, Louisiana, and Adam Gasper of Mattawan, Michigan. Helen came from a large family which includes surviving siblings: Bernice Bies of Phoenix, Arizonia, Chester (Theresa) Fleszar of Onsted, Michigan, Rev. Andrew (Brenda) Fleszar of Dundee, Michigan; and a sister-in-law: Judee Fleszar.
Helen Edith Dandron, age 95 of Monroe passed away at 3:35am, Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at Mercy Memorial Nursing Center. She had been under the care of Mercy Memorial Hospice of Monroe. Her passing in addition to her parents was preceded by six brothers: Bruno Fleszar, Joseph Fleszar, Anthony Fleszar, Charley Fleszar, Stanley Fleszar, Raymond Fleszar, and a sister: Rose Fleszar.
Friends may gather from 4:00-8:00pm, Thursday, August 13, 2009 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. She will lie-in-state from 10:00am until a Mass of the Resurrection at 11:00am at St. John the Baptist Parish, 501 South Monroe Street. Father Jack Quinlan pastor of the church will officiate. Procession will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park for burial.
