Obituary of Nancie Disher

Nancie Louise Disher age 79, of Monroe passed away peacefully on Monday, July 20, 2009 at her home. Nancie was born on January 22, 1930 in Toledo, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Clarence Miller and the late Louise (Calkins) Miller. Nancie married her soul mate Irvin R. Disher on November 2, 1946 in Monroe, Michigan. For many years the Disher's lived in Torrance, California. Nancie was employed for more than fifteen years by the TRW - Hawthorne Company in California. She worked as a Foreman regarding semi-conductor manufacturing. Following Nancie's retirement in 1985 the couple moved back to Michigan where they have resided for the past twenty-four years. Nancie enjoyed community involvement and she served on the Board of Directors for the Area Commission of Aging 1-B. She was also a member of the Water Tower Park Senior Citizens in Luna Pier. Nancie enjoyed playing bingo and gambling. She had always enjoyed traveling and recently had found joy in participating with the Senior Citizen trips. She is survived by her beloved husband of more than sixty-two years: Irvin of Monroe, a daughter: Kathy Disher of Pomona, California; a daughter: April (Jerry) Deering of Blue Ridge, Virginia; a son: Steve (Linda) Disher of LaSalle, Michigan; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and a special niece: Linda Mead. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by a sister: Betty McMillan. Cremation rites have been accorded through Southern Michigan Services in Livonia, Michigan. Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185 was entrusted with her arrangements. A Gathering of Friends will be held from 1:00pm until 3:00pm on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at the LaSalle Township Fire Station, 4120 LaPlaisance Road, LaSalle, Michigan.
