Arthur Dana DeLong was born on March 30, 1927 in Toledo, Ohio. Arthur was the son of the late Arthur DeLong Sr. and the late Edna DeLong.
He served honorably in the United States Army from November 13, 1945 until his discharge on March 7, 1947.
Arthur worked as an assembly worker for thirty years for the Dana Corporation in Toledo, Ohio. He took a medical retirement in 1995. Arthur was married to Liane Fromm in 1975 by the Justice of the Peace in LaSalle.
As a young man Arthur enjoyed collecting automobiles. This was so well known that he received the nickname "Hot Rod". Later in life Arthur bought, built, and sold boats which earned him the nickname of "Honest Art".
Arthur Dana Delong Jr. age 82 of Luna Pier passed away at 7:57pm, Saturday, December 19, 2009 at the Lutheran Home of Monroe. The family had received care from Heartland Hospice and Homecare.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 34 years: Liane of Luna Pier; three children: Gary DeLong of Ida, David (Michele) Delong of Luna Peir, Michigan, and Linda (Larry) Boulis of Toledo, Ohio; three grandchildren: Kelly DeLong, Danielle (Kevin) Raymond, and Lucas (Angela) DeLong; and seven great grandchildren.
Friends and family will gather for a memorial dinner at 4:00pm; Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at the American Legion Post 193 located at 11045 Harold Drive in Luna Pier, Michigan. Merkle Funeral Service, Bennett-Erie, 9156 Summit Street (734) 848-5185 was entrusted with his arrangements.
