Obituary of Karin Herrera

Karin Leigh (Paterson) Herrera was born on January 15, 1982 in Lincoln Park, Michigan. She was the only daughter of Susan Paterson. Kari was a graduate of Monroe High School in the class of 2000. She was a member of the Generations of Sound and had the starring role of Annie in Annie Get Your Gun. Karin married the love of her Life, Marc Herrera on November 11, 2006 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Monroe. From this union, the couple was blessed with one child. Karin helped support her family as a dialysis technician for Fresenius Medical Center before taking a medical leave in 2009. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church where she was baptized and confirmed. Karin was an active member of the Youth Group and participated in two Mission trips. Karin Leigh Herrera, 33, of Monroe passed away at 9:29am on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit with her loving family by her side. She battled brain cancer for 6 years and was seriously ill for the last month. To cherish Kari's memory, she leaves her husband of eight years: Marc Herrera; son: Cayman Herrera; mother: Susan Paterson of Monroe; grandparents: Bob and Mary Beth Paterson of Monroe, father in-law: Manuel (Linda) Herrera of Monroe, and mother-in-law: Sandy (Carl) Feaganes of Carleton; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Friends may gather from 10:00am until 11:00am on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 201 S. Monroe St., Monroe. A memorial service will follow at 11:00am with Pastor Evans C. Bentley of St. Paul's officiating.
