Obituary of Viginia Tadlock

Virginia "Ginnie" Carter Tadlock was born in Los Angeles, California on April 13, 1931. She was the daughter of the late John Luther and Helen (Haueter) Wetherby. Virginia graduated from Los Angeles High School in the class of 1949. She went on to serve her country honorably in the United States Navy, achieving the rank of Yeoman third class. While Virginia was in the Navy, she met and married the love of her life. Virginia and Martin "Riley" Tadlock Jr. were joined together in marriage on September 14, 1957 in Washington D.C. at the U.S. Naval Receiving Station Chapel. Together the couple would raise two lovely daughters. Our mother was an avid reader and lover of movies, music and having a good time. In fact both of my parents loved these things and have instilled those loves in us as well. We used to call my mother's favorite writers "her girls" as she loved the works of such authors as Nora Roberts, Jayne Ann Krentz, and Elizabeth Lowell. In the spring she loved to garden and have pretty flowers to look at and enjoy. She also loved nature and animals and always loved to fill our home with both. She worked for over 20 years for the city of Westland and was loved and respected for her professionalism and for her smile and sense of humor. In her earlier years she and my father were part of what was known as the Westland Civic Players and our early childhood years were happily spent watching, and even sometimes participating in the plays that were done by this wonderful group of actors. Later, we were all in the Ford Snowmobile Club and spent several happy years snowmobiling all over Michigan and met many wonderful people! When they retired, they bought a house on Higgins Lake and we spent many of the happiest years boating around the lake and meeting some very special people who have become some of our closest friends. No matter where my parents went they were always remembered fondly, even if the encounter was brief so I guess the true measure of a person's success in the world is not really money or power, but as Nat King Cole, who was born on the same day my mother died, said "the greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return" I would say that my parents learned that lesson very well indeed. They will be in our hearts and in the hearts of those who love them forever! Virginia Carter Tadlock, age 83, of Monroe passed away at 6:15am on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Magnum Care of Monroe. In addition to her parents and in-law's; Ginnie's passing is preceded by her loving husband of fifty-four years: Martin "Riley" Tadlock Jr.; brother: Jack Wetherby; sister-in-law: Viva Wetherby and many other beloved many members on both sides. To cherish her memory she leaves her two daughters: Kristy Parrott of Monroe and Stacy Tadlock of Anchorage, Alaska; Brother-in-law: Jack Wallis; nephews: Clint Wallis, Clay Wallis, and John "Jock" Luther Wetherby; nieces: Debbie Wallis, Kate Wetherby, and Laurel Wetherby; grandchildren: Riley, Caleb, and Noah Parrott all of Monroe; and many great nieces and nephews. A private inurnment is scheduled at a later date at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
