Charles Edward Tigney Sr. December 23, 1948 - February 7, 2015 Charles Edward Tigney Sr. was born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania on December 23, 1948. He was the son of the late Floyd Fredrick Tigney and Sarah (Wallace) Sewell. Charles graduated from German Township High School and attended Fayette Vo-tech for woodworking in Pennsylvania. He was a very hardworking man, supporting his family with employment at Ford Motor Company as a Small Press Operator for thirty-one years, retiring in 1997. Charles married the former: Robin Martin on June 24, 2006 in Brownsville, Pennsylvania at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church. Family was the most important element in Charles' life. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; each holding a special place in his heart. He enjoyed all family functions, especially spending the holidays together at his home. Charles had a great appreciation for all music, which drove his passion as a professional drummer; often playing at the jazz club, Peacock. He loved riding on his Harley Davidson motorcycle, no matter the distance. Charles loved football, and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He spent his spare time fishing and making weekly trips to the flea market. Charles Edward Tigney Sr., age 66, of Romulus passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital with his family by his side. In addition to his parents, his passing was preceded by his first wife: Patricia "Wista" Tigney (1992); father-in-law: Robert Martin; and grandson: Jason Robinson. To cherish his memory he leaves his wife: Robin Tigney; daughters: Shawna Tigney of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania and Rosalind (Kevin) Jefferson of Canton; sons: Darwin "George" Tigney of Grove City, Ohio and Charles Tigney Jr. of Monroe; five brothers: Reverend Timothy (Quinsella) Tigney Sr. of Toledo, Floyd (Kathleen) Tigney of Brownstown, Claude (Rose) Tigney of New Jersey, Julius (Evelyn) Tigney, and Arthur Tigney of Atlanta, Georgia; five sisters: Debra Williams of Toledo, Cynthia Underwood of Atlanta, Georgia, Christine (Levi) Washington of Myrtle Beach, Tina Sewell of Monroe and Faith Tigney of Patterson, New Jersey; mother-in-law: Frances Martin of Brownsville, Pennsylvania; several nieces and nephews; eight grandchildren: Courtney Tigney, Ciara (Charles) Jackson, Kevin Jefferson Jr., Derrick Tigney, Alexis Tigney, Darren Tigney, Charles Tigney III and Trenton Tigney; and three great grandchildren: Alivia, Boston, and Ommri. Friends may gather from 2:00-8:00 PM on Friday, February 13, 2015 at Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe 14567 South Dixie Hwy (734) 241-7070. A Homegoing Celebration will take place at 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 14 also at Merkle's with Reverend Timothy Tigney Jr. from New Prospect Church officiating. Burial to follow at Roselawn.
