Jurlean Poff
August 29, 1929 - February 5, 2015
Jurlean Hensley was born in Middlesboro, Kentucky on August 29, 1929. She was born from the union of the late Luther and the late Nellie (Miracle) Hensley.
Jurlean was well-known for her tireless work, and for more than thirty years she was employed by B & M Industries. Jurlean worked her career as a press operator until her retirement in 2002.
Jurlean was a devout Southern Baptist Christian woman. She daily read from the Bible to strengthen her relationship with Christ, and she received additional spiritual nourishment by being an active member of the Lakeside Missionary Baptist Church in Newport.
She freely and willingly shared herself with others. Jurlean had unconditional love for her children always very proud and supportive of them and their endeavors. She was slow to anger, compassionate, and fun to be around.
As an avid seamstress for years, Jurlean provided and tailored to her families many needs. In Jurlean's free time, she enjoyed gardening and maintaining her flowers, particularly her "Hens and Chickens," playing bingo weekly at St. Anne's Church and locating a bargain at antique shops, flea markets and garage sales. As a great cook, she enjoyed preparing her family's favorite dish, biscuits and gravy.
Jurlean always kept herself apprised to current events, making sure to read the daily Monroe Evening News, curled up next to her canine companion, "Baby."
Jurlean Poff age 85 of Monroe passed away at 2:20pm, Thursday, February 5, 2015. She had been under the care of Heartland Hospice and Homecare. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by a son: William R. Poff in 2010.
To cherish her memory she leaves her children: Roy (Constance) Poff of Monroe, Wallace (Tammy) Poff of Ohio, and Peggy Sue (Darryl) Freeman of Ohio; and a daughter-in-law: Cindy Poff of Monroe.
