Obituary of Scott LaVigne

Scott Douglas LaVigne was born in Monroe, Michigan on February 23, 1952. He was one of three children born from the union of the late Keith and Lila (Murphy) LaVigne. Scott graduated from Monroe High School with the class of 1970. He married the love of his life, the former Jill Matteson on July 8, 1972 at Christ Lutheran Church in Monroe and from this union came the birth of two daughters.
Scott began his career with McDonald's at the age of 16, working from crew member up to becoming a field consultant for the corporation. He then became a very dedicated salesman for more than 20 years with Culligan Water Systems. Scott was a member and board member of the Home Builder's Association and the former secretary/treasurer of the Monroe Sportsman Bowling League.
Scott was a God fearing and spiritual man, and was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Monroe. His family was of most importance to him. Scott never once missed an event or function that his children were involved in. He enjoyed making those around him happy and was always the life of the party. Scott was well known to give nicknames.
Scott was a great story-teller and cook. In his off time he enjoyed the beach and the ocean. Scott loved Walt Disney World, Las Vegas, and casinos in general. He also loved playing euchre with his Uncle Milton who recently passed away. He was an avid University of Michigan football and Detroit Tigers fan.
Scott Douglas LaVigne, age 62 of Monroe, passed away at 12:07am, Monday, February 2, 2015 at his home in Monroe. In addition to his parents, his passing was preceded by his grandparents.
To cherish his memory, Scott leaves his loving wife of forty-two years: Jill LaVigne; two children: Gail LaVigne of Monroe and Amy (Jack) LaVigne- Benore of Monroe; sister: Robin Matteson of Temperance; brother: Marty (Karen) LaVigne of Temperance; brother-in-law: Ron (Laura) Matteson of Monroe; grandson: Blake Benore of Monroe; two nieces: Emilie (Tom) Sturm and Madison LaVigne; two nephews: Bradley and Austin LaVigne; and his honorary daughter: Earline Thomas.
Friends may gather from 2:00pm to 8:00pm on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Merkle Funeral Service South Monroe, 14567 South Dixie Highway, Monroe, Michigan (734)241-7070. A Celebration of his Life will take place at 11:00am on Thursday, February 5, 2015 also at Merkle's with Pastor Dennis Bux from Christ Lutheran Church officiating.
