Obituary of Elizabeth Jean Lewen
Elizabeth Jean Lewen was born on September 30, 1982, in Monroe, Michigan, to Craig and Lorna (Panchott) Lewen. From an early age, Elizabeth filled the lives of those around her with joy, laughter, and love. At the age of 16, she began her career at Busch’s Grocery where she further demonstrated her remarkable work ethic. Her dedication and talent earned her a management position, where she thrived until health challenges forced her to step back.
A true child of the '90s, Elizabeth had a passion for boy bands, looking forward to the electrifying concerts of the Backstreet Boys and NSYNC. She took immense joy in expressing her creativity through cosmetics and nail art, amassing an impressive collection of makeup products with which she created star like looks. Elizabeth was a passionate online shopper and loved to color, often finding solace in creative activities. Her spirit was one that drew people in, and not a bad word could ever be said about her.
Elizabeth cherished her family deeply. She had a special bond with her nephews, whom she adored and took school shopping each year. Known for her great sense of humor and her big heart, Elizabeth consistently went out of her way to look out for others. Whether it was her dad bringing home her favorite movie theater popcorn or her requests for fresh white elephant wine from the winery, she brought joy to even the simplest moments.
Elizabeth Jean Lewen, beloved daughter, sister, and aunt, passed away peacefully on Wednesday; November 6, 2024, at the age of 42. Her passing was preceded by that of her mother: Lorna Lewen and one brother: Michael Lewen.
To cherish her memory, she leaves her loving father: Craig; a devoted sister: Kristin Winchell; three cherished nephews: Gage, Oscar and Ben Lewen; two aunts: Linda (Roger) Florian and Rhonda (Henry) Abbott; and her close friends: Lindsay, Deanna, and Marie, who will all dearly miss her.
A Celebration of Elizabeth's Life will be held at a later date for friends and family to gather and remember her beautiful soul. Her care has been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service; North Monroe; 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48162 (734) 384-5185. Cremation has taken place through Covenant Cremation of Erie, Michigan, a division of Merkle Enterprises, Inc.
