Obituary of Ester Vega
Ester Vega was born on July 29, 1960, in La Feria, Texas to the union of Juan and Beneranda (Esparza) Vega. She attended Erie Mason High School and was a natural athlete, participating in several sports including softball and volleyball during her years there. After graduation, Ester worked a number of different jobs and was employed at Johnson Controls before her cancer diagnosis prompted her to retire.
Ester was a proud, single mom to four children and worked very hard to provide them with everything they needed. She had a sense of humor that was one-of-a-kind and was notorious for her practical jokes. On Saturday’s during football season, she could be found cheering for her beloved University of Michigan and even playing football in the yard with the boys.
Ester fought her cancer fiercely and didn’t let anything get her down. After having a double mastectomy, she even joked with her family that now she could go out and fish, one of her favorite things to do, without her shirt. Above everything else, Ester cherished her family and was always in the stands to cheer for her grandchildren at their games and meets.
