Gary Bogedain

Obituary of Gary David Bogedain

Please share a memory of Gary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Gary David Bogedain was born in Monroe, Michigan on December 16, 1948. He was the youngest of eight children born to Peter and Edith (Heck) Bogedain. Gary graduated from Monroe High School with the Class of 1966. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. While stationed in Germany, he worked to facilitate supplies to the front lines.

Gary was blessed with the birth of a son, Benjamin, during his union with the former Sherry McDonald. The family took many trips together. They often stopped at theme parks, where Gary shared his love of roller coasters with his son.

Gary was an employee of Casper’s Liquor Store in Monroe for fifteen years. He later worked as a part’s manager at the Johnson Honda dealership in Monroe for twelve years where he was extremely proud to have been honored with the distinction of “Part’s Manager of the Year” two years in a row.

A talented bowler, Gary spent every Friday night for twenty-five years at Nortel Lanes in Monroe where he participated in league play and achieved a 278 game. Gary also enjoyed hitting the links, however his aptitude with a golf club wasn’t quite as good as it was with a bowling ball! Later in life, playing Poker became Gary’s Friday night tradition. He had a great appreciation for music, especially 70’s classic rock. Gary loved to attend concerts and was very proud of his granddaughter, Alexis, who learned to play the guitar. Although he could be stubborn, Gary always had his family’s best interests at heart.

Gary David Bogedain, age 75, of Monroe, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, July 15, 2024.
