Milt and I were best friends during our senior year at Monroe High School. Besides sharing our mutual love of jazz and baseball, we worked together at Ohio China. Some time during that year, we went to Chicago and spent several nights at the Blue Note listening to Stan Kenton live. I have a photograph of Milt, Stan Kenton, and I from one of those evenings, signed by Kenton some thirty years later.
Milt was funny, witty, generous, and a wonderful friend. I hadn't seen him since 1976, at our 25th high school reunion, and I regret having lost all those years of friendship since then.

We are never prepared when we lose a loved one, but the blessing and comfort we do receive is knowing he is with our Heavenly Father and loved ones that have gone before us. Upon hearing the news that Uncle Milt passed was shock then low and behold the next thought was the joy my dad and uncles who greeted him at their euchre table. My love and prayers are with you all, Uncle Milt will be greatly missed and I love you all.

As you grieve know that we are remembering you and honoring the memory of Uncle Milt. I recently saw Uncle Milt at Emilie wedding in October. What happened next I was not prepared for and touched me deeply. I saw my dad through Milt, something only he could provide. Somehow there was still a connection I could not explain and I was filled with happiness and joy. Sadly that candle has been blown out as well and the last link in the chain to our family’s history has come to pass. I will always remember Uncle Milt sense of humor and laugh that could make people smile and bring laughter into their lives. And while it’s going to be difficult to think of this world without him, it’s a happy thought knowing that wherever he is, he is only spreading happiness. Marty LaVigne
