Louis C. Gutierrez was born in Garden City on May 26, 1954 to the union of the late Louis C. and Gloria (Gutierrez) Roosevelt. Louis graduated from Henry Ford Community College in Dearborn.
For more than twenty-two years, Louis was employed with General Motors Power Train in Livonia working his way up to an electrician apprentice. Louis took retirement in 1995 due to his valiant fight with multiple sclerosis of twenty-three years.
He married the love of his life, the former Rita Hinojosa, on March 17, 1995, in Monroe. Family was highly valued to Louis, he loved his wife and children. He was a family man and momma's boy and treasured the time he spent with his loved ones,
Louis spent a lot of his time at his favorite place, his cabin up north in Temagami, Canada. He enjoyed working on his wood boat and fixing many other things. He had a passion for music, and would often play his guitar and sing. When Louis was younger he learned to ballroom dance and from there his love for dancing began to grow. When given the chance, he valued teaching others what he could. Louis was an absolute huge Detroit Red Wing's fan.
Louis C. Gutierrez, age 64, of Newport passed away at 10:40am, on Monday, January 5, 2015 at Oakwood Hospital -Southshore in Trenton, Michigan. He was preceded in death by both parents.
To cherish his memory he leaves his loving wife of nineteen years: Rita Gutierrez; three children: Aaron (Becky) Roosevelt of California, Christopher (Meghan) Roosevelt of Minnesota, and Rene Gutierrez of Ypsilanti; one brother: Robert (Linda) Roosevelt of Trenton; three sisters: Cythia Kocis of Dearborn, Pam Grezlik of Georgia, and Sherry Kasprzyk of Garden City; Four grandchildren: Jasmine and Jillian Matz of Minnesota and Apollo and Mila Roosevelt of California.
Friends may gather from 2:00pm till 7:00pm on Friday, January 9, 2015 at Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe 2442 N. Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan (734) 384-5185. A Memorial Service will follow at 7:00pm on Friday, also at Merkle's with Deacon Kenneth Trabbic officiating.
