Obituary of Sherry Lynn Wylie
Sherry Lynn Wylie was born in Monroe, Michigan on September 8, 1956. She was the eldest of six children born from the union of James Raymond Wylie and Dorothy Mae (Wilson) Wylie. She attended Bedford High School graduating with the Class of 1974. Following high school, she obtained her certifications and was employed as a Nurse’s Aide.
For more than forty-two years she worked in the book publishing and printing industry for McNaughton & Gunn in Saline. She medically retired in March of 2020.
As a young girl, Sherry was a true blessing to her parents, helping to raise her five siblings. Although she did not have any children of her own, she became a second mother to all her nieces and nephews. She considered them her own and cherished their bond, smothering them with love and was generous to all.
Sherry loved to travel no matter the destination. She took many amazing trips and family vacations. Cruises in the Caribbean, Great Britain, Scotland & Wales, Vancouver to see Richard Dean Anderson, and many trips to Disney World, Zoo’s & Amusement Parks.
She was a longtime member of the Deerfield Free Methodist Church where she served in various capacities including being a worship volunteer, running the audio/visual for church services prior to their closing. She was a fan of Stargate and Star Trek Next Generation. She loved Minions.
Sherry Lynn Wylie, age 67, of Deerfield passed away at 10:00pm on Saturday; January 6, 2024 at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor. She had been in declining health for the last year.
To cherish her memory she leaves her beloved parents: James R. and Dorothy M. Wylie of Deerfield; three sisters: Paula (Pat) Doherty of Monroe, Cindy Brown (John Carpenter) of Manitou Beach, Michigan, and Rhonda (Bruce) Branscum of Deerfield; two brothers: James Wylie Jr. "Jimbo" (Criss) of Deerfield and David "Bud" (Denise) Wylie of Deerfield; fifteen nieces and nephews: Patience, Penny, Eric, Deanna, Paul, Patrick, Missy, Preston, Sam, Doug, Cassie, Dan, Andrew, Sarah, and Katie; and twenty-one great nieces and nephews.
Friends may gather from 11:00am until 12:00pm on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Merkle Funeral Service, Dundee; 297 Tecumseh Street, Dundee, Michigan 48131 (734) 529-3156. A Celebration of Her Life will take place at 12:00pm with Reverend Bill Fix and her sister-in-law Denise Wylie officiating. A memorial luncheon will follow at Light of Christ Parish Salt Center, 222 Carey Street, Deerfield, Michigan 49238.
