Obituary of Ralph C. Bach
Ralph C. Bach was born in Monroe, Michigan on August 28, 1936. He was the second youngest of seven children born to the union of Joseph Bach and Hannah (Pretzer) Bach. He attended St. Mary’s grade school and then graduated with the Class of 1954 from Monroe High School. He enlisted in the United States Army and served his country honorably from 1955-1957.
Ralph married the former Josephine Solomon on May 20, 1961, at St. Mary Parish in Monroe, Michigan. The couple was blessed with a daughter: Andrea. Working in the food brokerage business, Ralph provided for the needs of his family employed as a salesman and account manager for more than forty years before his retirement in 2002.
Ralph was a member of St. Michael’s Parish, and a very proud member of the local Republican Party, of which Jo was very active. An avid golfer, he often played at Sandy Creek, and enjoyed the company of the golfers and staff alike. He lived to golf; in fact he was so passionate about his game that he played year-round, even on Christmas Day.
Ralph was an amazing storyteller, and entertained friends and family with his real-life stories. After Jo passed away, Ralph carried the torch of engaging friends and family in meaningful conversation. Without realizing it, hours would pass.
He was very proud of his family and loved to spend time with nieces, nephews, his two grandsons and great grandson.
Ralph C. Bach, age 87, of Monroe passed away at 2:03pm on Saturday; October 14, 2023, under the care of Hospice. His passing was preceded by his beloved wife of fifty-five years: Josephine Bach on December 25, 2016; his parents; and all six of his siblings: Al Bach, Leo Bach, Johannah Hagan, Bob Bach, John Bach, and Donna Demansky.
To cherish his memory, he leaves a daughter: Andrea (Mark) Stewart of Mount Vernon, Ohio; two grandsons: Ryan Stewart and Michael (Anne) Stewart, whom he was very close to; his little buddy, great grandson: Mason Stewart; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ralph will lie in state from 10:00am until 10:30am on Friday; October 20, 2023, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church; 303 East High Street, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050. The Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 10:30am with Father Brandimarti pastor of the church officiating. He will then lie in state from 10:00am until 11:00am on Saturday; October 21, 2023, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church; 502 West Front Street, Monroe, Michigan 48161. The Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 11:00am with Father Kishore Batu pastor of the church officiating. Procession will then take place to St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe for inurnment. Graveside services will be under the auspice of Monroe VFW Post 1138.
His care has been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe; 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48162 (734) 384-5185. Cremation has taken place through the on-site crematory, Covenant Cremation of Erie, Michigan. The family requests no flowers.
