Obituary of Ian Palmer

Ian Joseph Leroy Palmer was born in Monroe, Michigan on February 17, 1997. He was the son of Daniel Palmer and Rebecca (Parsons) Owens. Ian attended Jefferson Schools. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Ian was a kind-hearted, generous neighbor and enjoyed lending a helping hand to those around him, often offering to work in the yard. He also enjoyed working on bicycles. Ian was always a pleasure to be around. He had a pleasant, happy go lucky attitude, and seemed to get along with everyone. Ian enjoyed laughing and making others laugh. He was gifted with the conversation, and it wasn't unheard of for Ian to strike up dialogue with complete strangers. Ian's love for others was never more evident than with his relationship with his own mother, since he was a self-declared "Momma's Boy". Ian Palmer, age 17 of Monroe passed away unexpectedly on Sunday morning, November 30, 2014. He will be greatly missed and dearly loved by all. To cherish his memory, Ian leaves his mother and stepfather: Rebecca and Daniel Owens of Monroe; his father and stepmother: Daniel and Chrissy Palmer of Monroe; two brothers: Logan Palmer and Zachary Palmer of Toledo; three sisters: Angela Palmer and Ella Owens of Monroe, and Dakota Palmer of Toledo; great grandmother: Sue Parsons; Pip: Larry Trombley; Nana and Papa: Peter and Cynthia Spolnik of Clayton, Michigan; Nona: Ruby Palmer of Monroe; step grandparents: Daniel and Carol Owens of Taylor; four aunts: Melissa "Muna" (Cedric) Baker of Toledo, Jodi Trombley, Samantha (Christopher) McBee of Monroe, and Rebecca Owens of Taylor; uncle: Timothy Owens of Lincoln Park; several cousins including: Eleona and Cedric Baker. Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 8:00pm, Friday, December 5, 2014 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of His Life will take place on Saturday, December 6, 2014 also at Merkle's with the Reverend Jack Henegar officiating. Procession will follow to Maple Shade Cemetery in Onsted for burial. In lieu of flowers memorial donations for those who desire are suggested to the Palmer Family.
