Obituary of Judith Gilstorff
Please share a memory of Judith to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Judith Ann Pluff was born in Trenton on August 23, 1946. She was the one of five children born from the union of the late Willis L. and Annabelle (Duberstein) Pluff. Judy was a 1964 graduate of Airport High School. She enlisted in the United States Navy serving honorably from 1964-1966.
Judy married Larry L. Gilstorff on November 18, 1967 at St. Mary's in Rockwood. She was a devoted homemaker to her husband and six children. The family worshipped at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church. Judy would proudly raise her four boys into firefighters serving their community, and was just as doting of daughters: Kelli the "little homemaker" and Stacy her "sounding board".
Judy worked for several local companies to help make ends meet including: Better Plastics, Frenchtown Nursing Center, McDonald's, Jo Ann Fabrics, and Roberts Security. She always happily assisted Larry in his endeavors working with their Gulf Service Station, his repair work, and even while he served as a Boys Scout leader.
Judy was a talented artist, and shared her gift with many children teaching the art of ceramics, loved painting, and decorating her home with her abilities. Judy enjoyed watching the Food Network and applying techniques to her own cooking. Her world was also known to revolve around her grandchildren.
Judy, age 68, of Maybee passed away at home on Friday, November 7, 2014. Her loving family was at her side. Her passing was preceded by her father November 2, 2001 and mother February 2, 1998.
To cherish her memory she leaves her loving husband of nearly forty-seven years: Larry "Moose" Gilstorff of Maybee; six children: Fred (Elena) Gilstorff, KelliAnn (Mark) Hume, Stacy (Tim) Tennyson of Deerfield, Ed (Brandie) Gilstorff, Kevin Gilstorff, and Keith (Mickie) Gilstorff; four siblings: James (Karen) Pluff, Jeanette Pluff, Joan (Edwin) Schneider, and John (Kathy) Pluff; seven grandchildren and five step grandchildren including: Jacob, Aaron, and Emily Gilstorff, Derek Vandemark, Jade, Zachery, and Garrett Gilstorff, Alex Morgan, Chad Hume, Cassie (Kendall) McDaniel, Timothy and Tyler Tennyson.
A Celebration of Her Life will take place at 1:00pm, Saturday, November 15, 2014 at LMR Fire Station, 8755 Baldwin Road, Maybee. Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe (734) 384-5185 has been entrusted with her arrangements.
