Obituary of Kenneth Scott
Please share a memory of Kenneth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Kenneth Richard Scott was born in Monroe on July 26, 1941. He was one of eleven children born from the union of the late William Scott Sr. and Gladys (Cordrey) Scott. He attended Jefferson and Monroe Schools.
Ken took employment with the railroad in 1968. He worked his way to being a conductor and was employed by DT&I and C&N North America for thirty-nine years before his retirement in 2007. Ken was a member of the DT&I Old Timers.
He married the former, Terry (Johnston) Smallets on March 23, 1974 in Monroe. Ken loved spending time with his family. Much time was spent in Harrison, Michigan at the family's Up North cabin where Ken enjoyed cooking, although it seemed that Terry's treats were the ones being dished. Being an avid outdoorsman he also enjoyed KOA camping and fishing. Ken cherished the time he spent in his vegetable garden and of course liked to lavish his family and friends with any of the excess he may have had. Playing pool and cards, especially pinochle, were also favorite pastimes.
Kenneth "Ken" Richard Scott, age 73 of LaSalle, passed away at home on October 23, 2014. He had been in declining health since 2011. In addition to his parents, his passing was preceded by four brothers: William Jr., Robert, James, Roy; a sister: Wilma Lockmiller, and a sister-in-law: Judy Scott.
To cherish his memory, Ken leaves his loving wife of forty years: Terry Scott of LaSalle; five children: Jeffrey Scott of Monroe, April (Aaron) Walker of Monroe, Shannon (Timothy) Larkins Haughton, LA, Tammy (Scott) Lanphear of Port Richey, Florida, and Kenneth (Colleen) Scott Jr. of Kodak, TN; four sisters: Phyllis (George) Butler, Margie (Jerome) Richards, Patricia (George) Satterfield, Nancy (Robert) Shannon; one brother: Gerald Scott; fourteen grandchildren: Andrew, Conner, Camren, Caylee, Ashton, Avery, Nicolette, Kayden, Jackson, Joshua, Scott Jr., Dionne, Jacqulyn, Sarah; and six great grandchildren.
