Obituary of Gregory Vandergriff

Gregory "Griff" Vandergriff was born in Lafollette, Tennessee on November 1, 1960. He was one of two boys born from the union of the Johnie and late Martha (Beard) Vandergriff. Griff married the former, Kelli Jennings on August 10, 1998 in Toledo, Ohio. From this union came the birth of one child and together raised three children. Greg supported his family through employment with Ford Motor Company for eleven and a half years, until medically retiring in 2002. Griff enjoyed admiring and riding motorcycles; including Harley Davidson's and his Titan Gecko. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman. Greg was very fond of his gun collections as he was a skilled marksman and trap shooter. Griff was a member of the VFW Post 1138 in Monroe and a former member of the Canvasback Gun Club. He adored his wife, children, and their three miniature Dachshunds. Gregory B. Vandergriff, age 53 of Monroe passed away at Mercy Memorial Nursing Center on Monday, October 20, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. His passing was preceded by his mother: Martha; and a brother: Johnie Vandergriff. To cherish his memory Griff leaves his loving wife of sixteen years: Kelli Vandergriff; three children: Tyler Vandergriff of Monroe, Michael Straub of Holland, Ohio, and Jason Straub of Monroe: his father: Johnie "Buddie" of Tennessee; and his father and mother in law: Donald and Mary Jennings of Monroe. Cremation has taken place through Roselawn Memorial Park Crematory. Friends may gather from 9:00am till a Celebration of His Life at 11:00am on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Merkle Funeral Service 2442 North Monroe Street Monroe, Michigan (734)384-5185 with Pastor BJ McDaniel of Frenchtown Missionary Baptist Church officiating.
