Obituary of Russell Young

Russell Ray Young was born on October 25, 1948 in Clarkston, Michigan. He was the son of the late Russell and Clara (Swain) Young. Russell served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a former member of the Newport VFW Post 3943. Russell was a very hard working man. He supported his family through employment with the Chrysler Corporation as a Press Operator for thirty eight years at Chrysler Trenton Plant, local 372. Russell married the love of his life, the former Tobi Strimbel on November 12, 2010 in Toledo, Ohio. Together they made their home in Monroe. Russell loved to spend time in northern Michigan. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and the time he could spend outdoors. Russell took great pride in his yard and pool and was often referred to as being meticulous. He also loved spending time with his friends and family with his grandchildren being his pride and joy. Russell Ray Young, age 65 of Monroe, passed away quietly on Saturday, September 27, 2014 in his home. In addition to both of his parents, his passing was preceded by a brother: Gary Young; and two sisters: Karen and Janet. To cherish his memory, Russell leaves his loving wife; Tobi Young; one son: Russell Ray Young II; three sisters: Pat (Glenn) Miller, Christine (Tim) Deval, and Sandy Hall; one brother: Bill (Loraine) Young; three grandchildren: Chy and Russell Ray Young III and Brooklyn Masserant. Friends may gather on Saturday, October 25, 2014 from 2:00pm until a Celebration of His Life at 7:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street Monroe, Michigan (734) 384-5185. Cremation has taken place through Southern Michigan Services in Livonia, Michigan.
