Obituary of Norman Miller

Norman Steve Miller was born in Monroe, Michigan on May 23, 1935. He was the son of the late Clarence P. Miller and the late Lucy M. (Lanier) Miller. He grew up in the Evergreen Acres subdivision attending the school there. He married his neighborhood sweetheart the former Eleanor Drummonds on December 17, 1955 in Monroe, Michigan. From this union came the birth of four beautiful daughters.
Norman worked for the Northside Consolidated Paper Company for more than seventeen years. He worked as a boiler tender operator until his 1969 medical retirement.
Norman had a great sense of humor, and in his youth he was called "Bozo" because of his unruly red hair. Later he became know by the nickname "Stormin Norman". Norman loved speed, enjoyed racing, and was a NASCAR fan. For a period of time his love of autos led to employment as a test driver for the auto auction. Eleanor stated that although Norman was a fast driver, he was a good driver.
The family enjoyed camping and spent some six months a year at the Totem Pole Park where Eleanor worked.
Norman Miller age 75 of Monroe passed away at 5:15pm, Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at the Mercy Memorial Nursing Center. In addition to his parents his passing was preceded by a daughter: Annette Burt in July of 2007; and siblings: Dutch Gurney, Della Miller, Opal Dusseau, Mark Miller, Clarence Miller, and Phillip Miller.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife: Eleanor; three daughters: Norma (Norman) Beamer of Monroe, Julie (Richard) Anson of Monroe, and April Kipf of LaSalle; siblings: Lola Nieswinder of Monroe, Hazel (Michael) Williamson of LaSalle, Phyllis (Fred) Mullendore of Monroe; a sister-in-law: Kathleen Miller; six grandchildren: Namron (Angela) Beamer, Anjuril Miller, and Lyndsei-Nicole Beamer, Paul Christian Burt, and Julie L. Anson, and Heather Kipf; two great grandchildren: Jackson Burt and Nathaniel Beamer; and many others who called him grandpa.
Friends may gather from 12:00pm-8:00pm, Sunday, January 3, 2010 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185 where a Celebration of his Life will take place at 10:00am, Monday, January 4. The Rev. Von Loop will officiate. Cremation will follow and private burial of his cremains will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery.
