Jeffrey William Strauch
May 20, 1957 - March 19, 2011
Jeffrey W. Strauch passed away suddenly, on Saturday; March 19, 2011, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Jeff was well-known in the Southeastern Michigan building industry, and highly sought after as a steel estimator. He was preceded in passing by his parents, William and Mary Ann Strauch. Surviving are his five brothers, Mark (Elizabeth), Todd (Susan), Bill, Craig and Dreux (Misty). He also had three nieces and four nephews.
Jeff was born in Detroit in May of 1957. He was a graduate of Denby High School and attended the University of Michigan before leaving to work in the construction industry. He started as a self employed general contractor before joining Corvo Iron Works, which later became Raven Iron Works, as an estimator. He finished his career working for Michael Fabrication before having to retire.
Jeff was generous, caring and always available to help others. He especially enjoyed time spent with family and friends. Paula Dirkes was especially important in his life, and spent many generous hours helping him while he lived alone and caring for his needs.
A gathering to celebrate his life will be held Saturday; March 26, 2011 at the Grosse Pointe Hunt Club, from 1 to 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the Josephine Ford Cancer Center, the Hermelin Brain Tumor Center and Pine Street Foundation. All three organizations played key roles in giving Jeff many years of life after his diagnosis.
