October 27, 1923 - January 19, 2011
Georgia Baker age 87 of Newport passed away at 4:05am on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at the Magnum of Monroe Health and Rehab Center. She had been under the care of Mercy Memorial Hospice.
Private services have been held and cremation has taken place. Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185 was entrusted with her arrangements.
Georgia was born on October 27, 1923 in Oliver Springs, Tennessee. She was the daughter of George and Rose Jane (Brown) Glabraigh. Georgia resided with her significant other Alfred J. LaBell in Newport, Michigan.
She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, and the VFW Auxillary in Carleton.
She was employed by the War Atomic Plant in Oakridge, Tennessee helping to make the atomic bombs during WWII. Georgia modeled for various modeling agencies for many years.
Georgia is survived by four sons: Dennis Hill and George Hill, Melvin Michalski and Eugene Michalski; one daughter: Mary Coleman, the LaBell Family, several grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Her parents and two sisters: Ruth Riese and Pauline Pemberpon preceded her in death.
Memorial donations are suggested to Mercy Memorial Hospice of Monroe.
