Margaretta "Cookie" Mae Kroeger
October 31, 1944 - January 10, 2010
Margaretta Mae Hurst was born on October 31, 1944 in St. Charles, Virginia. She was one of five daughters born from the union of the late Thomas Sewell Hurst and the late Hattie (Honeycutt) Hurst. She grew up in the Toledo are and attended Libbey High School.
"Cookie" as she was known; married the love of her life Jerald "Jerry" Kroeger on July 16, 1977 at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Ida. Margaretta enjoyed being a homemaker and raising the couple's four children.
Margaretta received her spiritual nourishment from self-study of the Bible. She enjoyed attending church and worshipping her Lord and Savior. She was a member of the North Monroe Street Church of God.
Cookie was an avid Michigan Wolverine football fan. She enjoyed watching them on television, but really enjoyed visiting "The Big House". Cookie enjoyed Western movies, bowling and shopping. Cookie loved her family and cherished the time she spent with them.
Margaretta Mae Kroeger "Cookie" age 65 of Monroe was called to her Heavenly Home at 7:54pm, Sunday, January 10, 2010. She had been a patient at Mercy Memorial Hospital. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by her four sisters: Leanne, Priscilla Green, Beulah Whittenbaugh, and Joanne Hurst.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband: Jerry of Monroe; four children: April (Mike) Tezak III of Monroe, Kevin (Kimberly Smith) Marion of Tiffin, Ohio, Donnie (Sue) Marion of Toledo, Ohio, and Richard D. Kroeger of Monroe; eleven grandchildren: Will (Carrie) Tezak, Kevin D. Robinson, Chris (Kimberly) Tezak, John Curtis "J.C." Kamprath, A.J. Shardt, K.C. Shardt, Megan Marion, Chyeanne Marion, Cody Paul, Dylan Marion, Autumn Paul; and two great grandchildren: Logan James Tezak and Ella Rose Marion.
Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 8:00pm; Thursday, January 14, 2010 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. She will lie in state on Friday, January 15, 2010 from 10:00am until a Celebration of Her Life at 11:00am at the North Monroe Street Church of God, 2393 North Monroe Street. The Rev. Rick Massingill and the Rev. Heath Hunter pastors of the church will co-officiate. Procession will follow to Lulu Cemetery in Ida for burial.
